  • A Japanese firm gave it "to" SoftBank robot, whose name is Pepper, a new role. The role of a Buddhist priest in guiding the funeral ... so a grieving family can rent a robot instead of a priest!
At the funeral industry "Life Ending Industry Expo" in Tokyo, a robot sang in a computerized voice surrendered while drumming into the drum.
Nissei Eco has made software for funeral for Pepper, a robot presented by SoftBank Group Corp. 2014.
The Japanese population every year are getting older and many Buddhist priests receive less financial support from their communities, so some of them are forced to look for additional jobs, said Michio Inamura, Nissei's adviser.
A burial robot could "jump in" when the priest is not available, he says.
In addition, renting this robot costs less than 380 euros per fun, compared with 240,000 yen around 1,800 euros for the cost of a priest at a funeral
For now, the robot robber has not yet received a job offer.
